Born in 1948 in Rabat, Morocco.
From the outset, he was close to the emblematic figures of the Casablanca School, while asserting his own approach. At the age of 18, he had his first solo exhibition. Hassani immersed himself in various artistic movements, such as Art Brut, the Paris School and Abstract Expressionism. His travels throughout Europe expanded his artistic horizons.
His paintings are characterised by a subtle depth, where layers of paint become strata of time. Using techniques of superimposition and erasure, he reinterprets iconic figures such as the tower and the horse, inspired by his fascination with the game of chess.
Hassani also excels in monumental projects particularly for public commissions. Among his flagship projects, a 220 m² work for the Universal Exhibition illustrates the ambition of his artistic approach.
