"Nothing predestined me for painting, except for this dream I had at the age of 25, which told me: Rise and paint."

Born in 1929 in Chtouka, a region near El Jadida, Morocco.

Married at 13 and widowed at 15, Chaïbia Talal faced the trials of life alone before finding in painting a free and instinctive means of expression.

With no academic training and self-taught, she developed a spontaneous, colourful style inspired by Moroccan traditions.

Spotted by critics, she established herself as a major figure in naive art, exhibiting internationally. She passed away in 2004 in Casablanca.
