Born in Asilah in 1964, Mohamed Anzaoui was initiated into painting in the children's workshops of the Asilah Cultural Moussem. In 2001, he benefited from a stay in Paris at the Cité internationale des arts, which would mark his professional life. He began exhibiting in the early 1990s, first in Asilah and then throughout Morocco and Europe, notably in Spain and the Netherlands. In 2000, he co-founded L’Atelier in Asilah with Mouad Yebari and Souhaïl Benazzouz, a place for exhibitions, experiences, and conviviality, according to the founders.

He lives and works in Asilah.

Without an academic background, without a school of fine arts, Mohamed Anzaoui's painting enters the world of dreams, where everything is possible, between the sky, the sea, and the earth. Each painting is the narrative of dreams filled with memories and desires that animate him within the world in which he lives: the idea of the body, the flower, the animal, among them; the fish is a guide that opens up space. Colors blend, from acrylic to all kinds of pigments, they are thrown, placed, or laid on the canvas. They meet, overlap, diffuse with each other, intertwine, interpenetrate. Surfaces are smooth, plowed, granular, or rocky; they bear the constitutive elements of the painting and penetrate them like calligraphic signs that have abandoned writing.

Anzaoui's artistic vocation undoubtedly owes much to the Asilah Moussem, animated for many years by talented painters.
