Yasmina Alaoui was born in New York in 1977, of french-moroccan descents. She studied fine arts at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris before obtaining her bachelor's degree in sculpture from the College of William and Mary.

She currently lives and works in Marrakech.

Through the diverse experiences stemming from her multicultural upbringing arises an artistic approach that aims to reconcile extremes, by merging oppositions such as classical and contemporary, religion and secularism, order and chaos, repulsion, and attraction. She thus creates intricate visual works employing a variety of techniques, combined in an authentic manner.

Yasmina has collaborated with photographer Marco Guerra on the series  Tales of Beauty and 1001 Dreams, which have been collected and exhibited internationally, since 2003. From then on, her projects have diversified, stating her passion for various media, constantly oscillating between sculpture, painting, drawing, film-making, or musical composition.

She received the Cultural Diversity Award at the Dakar Biennale in 2018.
