Mahi Binebine is one of Morocco's  most talented painters and novelists. Initially a mathematics teacher, he soon gave up teaching to devote himself fully to painting, sculpture and writing, with a first book published in 1992. The multi-faceted artist has since then published over ten novels, some of which have been translated into more than ten languages. 
 
In 2010, his novel "The Stars of Sidi Moumen"  was adapted for the cinema by Director Nabil Ayouch ("Horses of God') and received critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival. 
 
The artist moved to New York from 1994 to 1999 where he seeked to experiment with ground breaking techinques. Today his paintings are part of several prestigious collections and institutions worldwide such as the Guggenheim Museum, New York. The artist returned to Marrakech in 2002, where he currently resides and works.
