Born in Rabat in 1989, Sanae Arraqas lives and works in Casablanca. Graduate of the Institut National des Beaux-arts de Tetouan in 2013, she currently teaches at the Lycée Technique de Casablanca.
Her almost anthropological practice questions our contemporary lifestyles and new forms of alienation in the public space. Using her sensibility and visual tools, she seeks to take a stand on social issues that affect her daily life and make up our contemporaneity.
A multidisciplinary artist with a significant influence from the so-called Northern painters, she masters the noble techniques of oil painting, drawing and engraving. Sanae Arraqas also practices installation art. The artist enriches her approach with a multicultural and multidisciplinary dimension, drawing on her personal experience to create a universal expression that is inherent to all artistic endeavours.
Her interest in the complexity of human interaction diminishes through her artworks, such as in her series exploring space in the Parisian metro, evolving to reinforce itself over time. During these two years of teaching, the subject of the apprenticeship at campus has created her own voice through her reflection. This theme is present in her research and artistic production.
